I'll stick w/ my forward only thx.
Having used a Gator with reverse, you're really not missing much if you don't have it. In all the time I had my gator I think I used it maybe twice, and didn't find that it cleaned the holes out very well at all...

Default Ion electric augers

That's what I thought when I saw the video. Besides, the benefit of the electrics is how quiet/stealthy they are below the ice.

A small ice tornado below the hole would certainly ruin that IMO.

if you are hunting pike some days the more commotion below the ice the better, it can draw them in from quite a distance

Agreed, I use the dull end of a spud bar to tap the ice when it slows down and they usually come a runnin'

I was under the impression that the Ion was coming out with a new model head with a 10" blade.
I question it's efficiency and longevity running on the old power plant. Otherwise why wouldn't they have released the 10" blade years ago?

The ION is going to change ice fishing ,just like the cordless drill did.
20 years from know ,it will all be electric ice augers.

I bought an 8" Ion as well this year with the 10" auger to go with it. I also purchased an extra battery. I hope it is as good as the reviews suggest. I will still have my Jiffy propane auger as backup.
