Default LOST rod and reel burstall parking lot

I know this a long shot. On Wednesday July 13 I hiked to Burnstall Lakes and when I got back to the parking lot I rested my rod and reel on the back of my truck. I think the hike and thin air got to me and drove off with it still there. It was a high-end Pflueger real and I believe a Fenwick rod. This was a treat to myself a couple of years ago and will probably never be able to replace it.
There was a group from a University Research group in the parking lot when this happened. He had been checking it readings up at the Lakes. Any information that could help get my rod and reel back would be a godsend.
