Default Bull Trout

Caught a nice Bull yesterday (61 cm/24 in) on 4# fluorocarbon. It was quite the surprise playing him out for about 10 mins. I was expecting a brute of a rainbow and was a little disappointed to see that it was a bull. It had a tail of another fish sticking out of his mouth, yet still had to chase down my bait. After I got it out of the hole I removed my hook and the fish that it had in it's mouth. A 20 some cm rainbow I suspect...….not much left of it but some flesh and the tail...…...he lives to be caught another day.

Nice catch! I caught a burbot once that had the tail of a pike still sticking out of its mouth.

Very nice. Don't see many bull trout pulled out of ice fishing holes around these parts.

Regarding the trouts appetite.... It is amazing but doesn't surprise me. These two pics that zipnzip posted a while back are such a good illustration of a big trout's appetite. Bulls and lakers and browns are all the same probably.

With trout/char they don’t care how long the fish is as long as it’s not too wide. The trout and char family are highly underestimated by fishermen when it comes to being predators.
