HA HA love it. AB does have some good trout spots. But not really down southern parts. Pretty small critters.

One only has to look at fisherman per body of water between the provinces to see what the problem is. Calgary alone has as many people as the entire province of Manitoba. Then look at a map and the lakes on it. It's pretty obvious.

I see from the gov't website, that they are filling some of the reservoirs.
ie Newell and McGregor
Some haven't changed in the last week.
At the rate they are going, I can't see the reservoirs being filled this fall.

They both fill from the Bow, and it's the lowest it's been in 110 years. Will take awhile. Makes me whine.

Bow is crazy low. Some places that a person used to need to access by boat, can just waded out to. Gotta say the river is fishing well. Wish there was more daylight.

Took this a week ago on my way into work. There should be a lot less gravel showing.

The canal to Chestermere has been empty for a couple weeks.
There just isn't enough water to meet the demand. Next year could be interesting.

Stopped at the PP at Newell yesterday. The launch is basically unusable except for the smallest of boats, like 12' or maybe a light 14'er. Did not check out the resort buy guessing it is unusable as well as there were no boats on Newel yesterday and it was a beautiful fall day. Oh and the gates to Rolling Hills are locked so no boating there either.

I am still holding out hope. Its come up about 10% in the last 10 days. I believe the canal will still be running for another week, so hoping I will be able to put my boat in there for 1 last day in the next 2 weeks.

I have the same hope. Traverse has been good to me the last couple of weeks but have Newell tags I’d like to fill with the boat. Here’s hoping!

Same here. I was out this past Saturday and it was good. Also have a tag for Newell that I never filled in June thinking I would have lots of time in the fall. Well I have got the time, but Newell don't have the water.

here is some information on Travers and Macgregor levels for the winter.

"Travers/Little Bow reservoirs

Beginning September 5, the level of Travers will be drawn down by up to nearly one metre below the current level, possibly reaching an elevation of 852.75 metres, to allow work on the boat launch at the Little Bow Resort after September 25. The drawdown rate will probably be about 0.05 metres per day. The work should only take two days, and the reservoir will then be refilled to a level of at least 854.0 metres for winter by mid-October. If there is enough water in the river the winter level may ultimately be as high as 854.5 metres. Most years the winter level is between 854.1 metres and 854.4 metres.

McGregor Reservoir

The level of McGregor will rise beginning September 5 from the current level of 872.48 metres to an undetermined level depending on the water supply. Once the work is completed at Travers water will be released from McGregor to partially refill Travers, and then McGregor will be refilled as close to the normal winter level as possible. Uncertainty regarding the river flow and diversion makes it impossible to predict how high the level will rise in September or the final level for winter, but it may be lower than the normal winter level of 873.56 metres."

LOL 2 days worth of work! looks like they did about 2 minutes worth of work!! Although it is better, it's still pretty bad, and the water level has maybe come back up about 6", if even that. At any rate, looks like its my only option for the final day in the boat since it looks like Newell is still a no go. Hopefully get a couple for the freezer.

My in laws have a place at the resort, they extended the ramps down into the reservoir, cleaned up the prop wash berm and added an extra row of concrete to the north ramp.

Shouldn’t have any issues launching next year!

Some decent snow forecasted for the South next week. Also comes with potential for extremely cold temps for this time of year.

Yep, boat goes away this weekend.

Didn't have any issues launching this year, doesn't mean that launch isn't complete crap though. There were many that did.

Just checked the Sentinal Playground site, looks like newel is almost full/full and still has water going into it. Man that is late.

Mcgregor fills from the bow, pretty sure Newell is from the red deer up by Jenner isn’t it?

The north canal comes from the red deer, the west one comes from the bow
