Talking The McMillian Arrived for my Sako 85!!!

Well my McMillian stock for my Sako 85 30-06 arrived

Is it ever nice, fits and feels awesome. I went with the Sako Hunter design in the McMillian Edge stock, but went with boring black for the color. Just need to get it in now and pillar bedded.

I think this is the first McMillian in Canada for the Sako 85, from what I was told. Hoping to get another in the future for my 25-06 finnlite.

I had my 75 Finnlight in the same stock. The damn thing took so long to get here, I actually traded the gun away the same week the stock arrived, and had very little time to actually appreciate it. Might have to order one for my 85, now that MCM is ready to sell them...

I think the black looks perfect and I'd take a plain black or olive drab over a swirly any day of the week.

You can only get one made if McMillian has an action in house at the time you order it. I used another customers action to have mine made up...now I am waiting for another action to come in so I can get a second one made.

If the Sakos came with that stock from the factory,I would gladly pay a few hundred dollars more.

Rob,

If it is an Edge it should have factory installed pillars.
Sweet looking rig!

Nice looking stock and setup. What is the weight of the stock if you scaled it. Thanks.

My McMillan just arrived too but it's till hung up in customs....apparently having an action and barrel attached changes the rules....

Surprisingly, the Firearm Centre has no McMillan rifles in the registry so there was no way to verify it. Hopefully they'll get it figured out this week and I can free my baby from the Air Canada lock up!

The 85 looks pretty sweet Harv!

A McMillan is getting pretty close to what I would call a custom... Those McMillans are sweet rigs. What caliber did you go with?

I just got a Sako 85 in 300 Win mag on Sunday. What didn't you like about the factory stock? I like mine and I've got it broken in and load development is well under way. This thing really shoots well!!!!

So you probably wouldn't be impressed if I told you I was putting a Tasco on top of it either?

The Sako 75 style of stock fits my better and I wanted to cut some weight by going with the Edge style of stock.

I've been wondering how to get one of those Edge stocks for my 85 as well.

Now that we have and idea how to make this happen, I'll have to keep my eyes open on other forums for people in the US wanting an Edge for their 85's.

Mine is in 7mm-08 which is the "small" action size. If anyone else has a "small" sako 85 (22-250, 243, 260, 7mm-08, 308 or 338 federal) and is intersted in an Edge as well, shoot me a PM and I can let you know when/if I find someone in the US who's having one done so we can all get in on the stocks we want.

Mike.

So the stock change makes them a great rifle?

I have traded a number of rifles but this one isn't going anywhere...honestly I have cured my gun nuts thing and moved onto more expensive hobbies like photography so no more rifle buying and selling.

oops...typo...What I meant to say was the Sako75/85 needs little help, ie: next to none, to be a great rifle.....a McMillan is a BIG step up from the factory synthetic...

I'm still looking for a cure for rifleitis.......aint found it yet.....
