Default Temporary hunting cabin

I read somewhere you could have a hunting cabin/camp on crown land for only X amount of days before it had to be moved. Anyone know how long that may be and how far does it have to move?

Is there a size restriction as well

Some outfitters seem to be able to leave their camps up permanently. I'd still like to hear an explanation for that.

I thought the same thing after 14 days they had to be moved. I would think that it is not enforced..

So then why do the guides get away with a year round camp?

At one time you could get a lease for this type of thing. I do know of a few outfitters and residents that have cabins. It is virtually impossible now. There are some that are allowed but not for hunting. As for the rest it is just not inforced. I am sure that there are many guys on here that leave up there camps for extended periods of time. It is more there to prevent people from building cabins and squatting all over the place. I have seen this enforced a few times though. Usually you have 3 options:

1 Give it to the trapper in the area (cabin).
2 Remove it.
3 They will remove/burn it down when winter comes.

i know in a couple areas that i have hunted that the outfitter there sets up in some real nice spots with lots of grass for the horses and then leaves the camp there all season, sometimes not using it for a month or better. in the meantime no one else can use the area either, kind of a pizz off.

It's not just outfitters. I know of hunting cabins that have been in the same place for years, and they're not used by outfitters. I've also read threads on this forum where guys admit to setting up a camp at the beginning of a season and leaving it in place until the end. They're usually the ones complaining about other people showing up in "their" area.

Every permanant cabin or hunting blind I see on crown land is reported to F & W and I follow up to see what is being done about it. My brother has found some unbelievable hunting blinds set up in his area. These were elevated stands made out of 6x6's drilling into the ground. They were completely enclosed with sliding window ect. After a little investigation he found out that they were being used by the local outfitter. He talked with F& W and they put up a 60 day notice and after that they were burned to the ground. If I see a stand on crown land and it looks like a good spot, I usually sit for an evening to see how good it really is. Cheers SM

easyest way around that rule is find out who the trapper is in the area and be nice and build him a line cabin that you can use in the hunting season. not sure if that workes but in gonna find out.

I'm pretty sure all trappers cabins are for the trapper, and his family only.

No go, nice try.
