Does anyone know if there is anybody that releases pheasants in the Edmonton area? I have a young GSP and would like to train her a bit more before the season without driving down to Wessex. Is this possible or is my only option to still go South?
I think the closest release site is Buffalo Lake near Stettler. The number of birds released has gone down over the past several years and it can become a bit of a zoo. Did anyone try it last year?
There used to be a hatchery and hunting site about 12 miles SW of Stony Plain. I just checked their web site and the connection does not seem to work. I can keep trying and let you know what I find.

Do you want to buy birds or do you want a release site where you can hunt the birds? Dirt Willy http://www.dirtwilly.com/ sells birds but as far as I know he does not have a release site. There are a number of small release operations like myself around, but other than word of mouth it will be tough to find them.
Well I searched through everything I have and cannot find a number or location for the one south of Stony. I am thinking that they may have decided to pack it in.
I would think your best bet would be dirty willy in Ardrosson.

Not too sure if he is up and running yet but I know a guy who is just setting up a shooting preserve and he is at Calahoo(just north of Spruce Grove). His name is Ryan Mcnally and his number is 780-459-2125 he also breeds GWP's. I know that he has 400 pheasants but I am not sure if the property is ready yet. Give him a call. Cheers SM
