Wow, even with the exchange rate, that's only ~50 cents a litre ($1.45 X 1.4 / 4) While we all understand the taxes are higher here in Canada, I doubt it's 27 cents a litre higher here in Alberta...

And just checked again... No increases in Missoula, Saskatoon or Winnipeg. An Alberta only increase..... The other prairie provinces continue to pay less than us.

Just received an update from GasBuddy that we're facing a 20 cent a liter price increase on gas prices here. Again it'll be interesting to see what happens in the other provinces and the US or is this just an Alberta rip off? Gas now higher here than Saskatoon and Winnipeg and still the same price in Missoula as it has been at 59 cents/liter CDN.

Where's "Here"? Edmonton? No alerts in Calgary so far. But we've been up for a week or so now.

1.62 in Kalispell on the weekend. That's about 42 cents a litre US or 56 Canadian
Gassed up at superstore in Edmonton on Sunday and it was 57 cents.

Filled up yesterday at Costco in Phoenix 1.35 for the US Gallon ... Which works out to about 50 Cents Canadian.

Considering domestic oil prices are around $19 (WCS) and $29(CDN Light). It's too bad that the Canadian Government doesn't protect the interests of Canadians. Instead we sell our cheap oil to the Americans so we can pay Brent Oil prices(33.97).

By what our domestic supplies cost, our gas prices should be cheaper than the USA ones...

Didn't cheap gas get places like Venezuela in trouble? I seem to recall seeing somewhere that they recently had an increase in fuel prices in the region of 6000%. No, the zeros after the six is correct. .54.9 is cheap enough for me at times if it stems an increase of that magnitude.

Use google, I'm not a researcher.

No gas price hikes over the other prairie provinces or US (Missoula, MT) yet... Strange, after decades of NDP government raising taxes in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, you'd think their gas prices would be a lot higher than our, wouldn't you? Must just be a stick it to the Alberta people thing! Nice of them there oil producers; lay your folks off then charge them more for fuel! Great corporate citizens.....

For sure, and the lowest of the 4 western provinces. I believe the last tax increase was Mr Prentice's 4 cents a litre wasn't it? Pretty sure we can't blame taxes any longer...

was up in the Edmonton area from Thursday to Monday, never paid more than 57.4 and filled twice at 54.9 once in St Alberta and once in Spruce Grove Monday morning, yet here in Lloydminster 75.9 when I got home on Monday afternoon, really hard to justify .23 per ltr in transportation costs ???? and again there are a lot of games going on out there

The 77 cent gas was a farce, i saw gas at 66 cents in the rockies, 77 cents at the next town, then 69 after that then i get to edmonton and it was 77... two days later i find gas 10 blocks down the road for 57 cents while gas was 77 in wested, a day or so after everyone is back at 57, haha

Who ever markets gas usually tries to wrench the price up but since they get it for soo cheap from the refiners it is easy for some one to lower their price again to fill the line up at the pump.

People are getting smart too, most everyone knows the tricks and puts 20$ in to tide over for a few days when the price bounces which probably kills fuel demand even further. the oil companies are grasping at straws these days to make a buck.

Some stations up 0.20 cents.
On 50 L thats $10.00 . Should drop in a couple days as some stations in Ed. are still around 0.57/L

Buy low people !

Or better yet, Don't buy at the big ones, ( Shell, Petrocan, Esso ) and send them a message ! We won't take it any more.

Not sure why it wouldn't be, they've been telling us for a year now our gas prices are based on the US refineries... I'm betting it's just our Canadian suppliers...
I just posted on CrackBook. Got responses from friends from Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley all the way to south Texas. None of them have had an increase in the last couple days.

Nope just the oil companies helping the unfortunate in Alberta. Gas is cheaper in Saskatoon, Winnipeg and of course all over the US than it is here. Darn decent of them, eh?

So let's see... $1.42 X 1.4 (exchange)= $1.98 X $1.15 (extra taxes)= $2.82 / 4 (litres per US gallon)= $0.57 a litre. Hmmm. Nope just a Alberta thing I guess.

The price increase has nothing to do with supplies, just testing what the market will bear. At the same time the pump prices were going up, bulk prices were going down.

Big oil has to pay for all the severance packages some how after firing everyone,lol..... you wouldnt want something dumb like severance packages hitting the bottom line unnecessarily

Firing lots of people means they need to charge more money for gasoline due to increased severance costs or something.

Oooor maybe they are firing people to help you save money at the pump...... errr wait noooo, they are firing people and charging people more at the pump to pay for the reduced wages and benefits of the employees they still have on payroll. Hmmmmm nah, ....i got it now

They are firing people to help them spend more time with their families, raising prices at the pump to encourage people to ride bikes annnnnd yeeeah, you know any profit the make will probably go to charity since they are just such a generous bunch.

Nothing to see here, carry on, life is good and the market will sort it all out
