Default 2023 NHL Playoff Thread

So, who's gonna win?

Most people have Boston - Oilers in the finals, what say the experts here?

I think Boston can be beat, not sure by who or when but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Or disappointed.

I'd be pretty happy if the Oil made the finals but I'd be even happier if they rang that bell. We aren't cup favorites on anyone's list so it's an uphill battle for sure, they definitely have work to do. Making the finals is anything BUT a given. Vegas and the Avs are no joke, LA is a GOOD team too, I think the Oil are gonna have their hands full.

If it is a Boston - Oiler final all we can hope for is that whoever plays Boston along the way beats the heck out of them physically.

Man what a GREAT time of year playoffs are, optimism and hopes run high.

Know who's definitely NOT gonna win?

So my predictions prior to the AO Playoff Pool starting Monday. Always an upset as most know...I'm sure many that are participating will change their picks as a result of my "expertise"...hehe...

FLO will upset and win over BOS.
EDM in 7 against a really good LA, but will loose the second round.
WPG will beat Vegas.
TOR will upset TB.
COL all the way to the Final against NYR...

As always, it will take a solid defense, and a strong goaltender. I wouldn't be surprised to see Colorado repeat.

Too soft of a team to go the distance. One super star stubs his toe and they are done.

Vegas snd Toronto just don’t have the goaltending. It’ll fall apart for them in the first round.

Yes….. Tampa will beat Toronto…. You heard it here first.

Not gonna lie…. Oil are in tough against LA… if LA injures one of the big 2 players…. The Oil might go out in game 7.
And LA is more than prepared to ‘take a knee’… dirty buggers.

Boston is something else eh…? Wow

As much as I want the Oiler's to go all the way, I want the Leafs to lose even more.

They need to change the salary cap rules.
Implement a game cap, so, you can spend, lets say $95M on a roster if you want to, but can only ice $83M of that roster per game. I don't like the medical/financial gymnastics that are being done so teams purposefully ice a $97M (Vegas) team against a $81M team (Jets) in the playoffs. How long until teams are signing guys, with zero intention of playing them, until the playoffs hit? Or is that already happening?

Haha. As a habs fan I can not pick on the laughs much as they went farther than my crew but I see and agree with you. They are usually booking T times soon in TO.

Not watching the game, but so far 4 out of 6 goals scored in the Tampa-Leafs game were scored on power play.

5 power play goals. Tampa scored in 4 out of the 5 pp they had. Leafs dis once in 4. Someone should stay out of the box. Goaltending will be key in this one, imo, and none was exceptional in game one. Vassilevsky has more potential to come up strong though?

Go Jets? I expected to see the exact opposite result (though the game is not yet over and if the Kings taught us anything yesterday…), to be honest.

Thought Rangers would win, but didn’t think they would score 5.

Colorado and Kraken is interesting. I would have my money on the Avs. But who knows. I thought they would have it in 6 games.

Never seen more junk goals . shot thru traffic bouncing off players or skates.
McDavid made a nice tip on his goal though...he makes things happen.

This is when you definitely put all kicks on net, forget the three passes bs get it in net and muck it up.

Get pretty well your golfing!

Florida ain’t gonna win from the box, that’s for sure.

Edit: Leafs power play looks pretty solid there.

Samsonov is coming up with some big saves there! But eventually they’ll score if Leafs continue to be dominated like that.

Florida seems to be doing the same thing they did with Boston - take the puck away (or back) and go create a scoring chance.

How about the Stevens' hit on Kariya that pretty well ended his career? He was never the same after that.

Mind you, there were no concussion protocol back then, as most of us old timers know.

Stevens would be great on any team that didn't him.

Hockey is hockey...nature of the beast...

This is correct.

Lindros took some biggies. Kasparaitis knocked him out once good as well. But he himself delivered some doozies too. Had it coming sort of thing.
