Default Check to see if you have your Backpack

Found a backpack full of fishing gear on an Edmonton walking trail. Looks like
it was stolen and dumped. I would like the owner to get back their things.

If you can tell me what is in it and where you found it, I can tell you if it's mine.

Hey Payne. That is some funny stuff. And the smiley, too funny.
You have been very helpful in finding the owner of the pack.

So have you, thanks for coming out!

On the sunny side of things it's good to see GMac doing the right thing and trying to find the owner...too many people would just take it as a freebie and be on their way.

I'd have a good dig through the backpack: to see if there is anything that identifies a store. There may be a receipt, something still in package that has a price sticker, or something hard-to-find that can only be purchased in a couple of places.

If you find something that identifies a smaller store, I'd phone them and let them know what you've found. The owner of the backpack might have started to replace things and probably would have said something to a salesclerk or cashier about having his/her backpack stolen.

You might also like to put an ad up on Edmonton Kijiji. Don't post a picture, of course, just the details of the find.

Nice to see that you're so honest, GMac

If figure that if you make a good effort, and haven't found the owner by the time the thaw comes (if it ever freezes, which almost seems questionable at this point), you can call it yours.

Notify City of Edmonton Parks and Recreation, and the police. Someone might have called them to see if it was turned in.

I have turn the pack over to the police just in case someone not on this forum is looking for it. IF someone comes forward later who owns this I will direct them to which police Division has it.
