Lawn Hydrant wouldn't work
Sorry I looked and couldn't find the previous thread. In short my lawn hydrant worked in the spring and then the next time I tried to use it it stuck in the on position with no water.
I tried driving the post back down, wouldn't move, so there it was, turned on and no water.
I put WD40 and spray on lithium grease on the joint at the top of the unit.
I was waiting for a friend to turn up with a valve wrench to turn the water off at the road and I was going to turn off the head of the hydrant and pull up with the tractor bucket, not a good idea but the best I had.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, we notice that yesterday the top of the hydrant is wet and now the hose works.
I'm not sure what changed but either the oil or the grease or both saved me a lot of money, work and maybe a disaster.
It is amazing what a little patience can do.
Thanks for all the advice fellows.
