Default Areas to shoot longer range.

I am looking for some places around central Alberta to go and get used to my new scope shooting out to 500 yards,

With it being busy times out in crown land camping and atvs I don’t want to get into a sticky situation.

Does anyone have an area out of the way they go and practice at?

Crown land not where there are atv campers or a lot of people, old logging slashes are a good place to look. Not pipelines roadways Or Rivera in the trunk road. Option 2 join a range that have facilities that match your needs.

Rocky Mountain House has a nice range that goes out to 600.

I'd give another vote for Edson.

There is a 1000 yard range south of Edson between fickle lake and Robb on the west side of the highway.

I used to whitetail hunt in that spot..

Ahhh sorry I see Dick mentioned it already

I would like to do it on crown land but I know with the amount of people out there this summer with campgrounds being closed it could turn ugly fast even when being safe and aware.

Just as a reminder....

For anyone on crown land, walk the area your shooting first and make sure that no trails cross the cutblock or wherever your shooting.

Now, more than ever, I think the ranges are the best place for such activities.
Some good suggestions for some already

As suggested a range may be best. Unless you know the country in all directions, traffic tendencies etc. It’s in your best interest to find I suitable range. People are everywhere and the gun community has a rough image, especially with tree friendlies who frequently wander in odd places. Quads and dirt bikes are all over and trails often run adjacent to cut lines/blocks. I love shooting in the bush but the summer is A rough time for such activity.
