Don't think it was necessarily to Ferland, moreso the 1st line as a whole and the unwillingness to split Mony and Johnny means Ferland is the odd man out. They were -7 last game with 0 shots on goal.

I’m thinking maybe they were too comfortable with Smith in net....almost expecting he will carry the day....with Gilles they really hustled. Perhaps fear/uncertainty with the goaltender is exactly the motivation the team needs to start scoring and CONTINUE to keep scoring....we’ll see.
Good game!

Everyone lost who we needed to lose. Flames did their part as well.

Yesterday was worth almost a 20% jump in our chances of making the playoffs.
Thats a massive jump and one you don't see all that often.

2 More big games coming up Dallas and Colorado. Every day it seems the playoff picture changes. What a fun time to be a fan.

8th would be a great spot for the Flames. Nashville in the first round.

Sure, why not, Calgary beats them all the time in their home rink! Besides if you want to win it all you have to be prepared to beat them all.

Sure, haven't lost in Nashville for what, two, three years? The only team in the West that really concerns me and I think has a chance is Winnipeg. Pittsburgh, Boston, and Tampa are looking pretty good and any team coming out of the west is going to have hard time with them I think, unless they beat themselves up getting to the final.

I'd love Winnipeg to do well. Those are some long suffering fans going back to the mid 80's.

Smith on IR isn't going to help us much, but still playing well and winning so keep the peddle to the metal. No time to slack now.

I hope they don’t trade Gilles for a more “experienced” goaltender (e.g. Cam Ward)

Crazy how tight the race is, Flames playoff chances up 15% in a couple days, probably go higher if Oil hang on.

Even those Oilers want the Flames to make it.

Edit, two goals in 14 seconds, I forgot, they are professionals at what they do, which is mainly lose. Sigh....

Another good night on the out of town scoreboards with San Jose, St. Louis, and Anaheim all losing.

I think Gillies has more upside then Rittich. And i like Rittich. More excited about Parsons down the road. Gillies can be trade bait but won’t be for another goal tender coming back.

Just watching trade center and they were talking about the Flames with Sutter. Man I like that guy. He made the point that Backlung, Frolik, and Thachuk will be the best 3rd line in the playoffs. They tried to correct him and say 2nd line, and he said"No, they will be the best 3rd line". I think he means Calgary needs to address an offensive 2nd line and let the Backlund's line do the traditional role of shutting down the number 1 line on the other team. I think he is right that Calgary can not play number 1 against number 1 like a lot of other teams because Gaudreau and Monahan are strictly offence. There is a reason that Sutter has won a few cups and took Calgary on their last cup run.

Oilers should hire him as coach and GM and fire everyone else!

Is that a smart move by St. Louis or have they given up? Seems odd to be one point out of the playoffs and to move your No. 1 center.

Well, although its not as exciting, I'm glad Brad didn't mortgage the future for a Kane/Nash/O'Rielly type rental. Or trade a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounder for Tatar. Looking forward to what we can do with our current line up going into the playoffs but more excited about next year with essentially the same lineup minus Stajan and his $3.125M, Glass and his $650K, Versteg and his $1.75M for a projected cap space of $11.78M with only really having to resign bottom nine players and a backup goalie. I'd love to see them sign a Grabner/Kovalchuck/Tavares and see Valimaki/Anderson and Dube make the team.

Is Glenn giving a bonus to the player who hits the Stars logo the most?

It doesn’t do any good having the Oiler win for ya’s and then lose your own games.

Hot goaltender? Didn’t even break a sweat. We are great at making goal tenders look good especially back ups. Only thing good going to come out of this season i hope is GG being fired along with his coaches. Our power play is horrendous and predictable and we need to play a north south game with speed. We’re going to be golfing with no pics in this years draft. Soooo frustrated cause were better then this. GG doesn’t know how to get the best out of players. Doesn’t talk to them on the bench and keeps doing the same crap over and over. No inspiration. I digress

I was okay with that. Showing a little emotion after a blatent miscall that lead to a goal. Better than standing there like a robot anyway.
