Great tory and good for you guys sticking it out. I'm sure that's what your dad would have wanted. Sorry for your loss but it sounds like you have many memories to think back on.

Great story.
Thanks for sharing .
The memories of that hunt are by far the best type of trophy.

Thanks for the kind words and posi for posting my pics. I'm sure the ol man is looking from above saying "That's my boys" . It was a great time and looking forward to doing it again. Perhaps next year with my kids because they should have enough priority. Guess it will depend on their work schedule.
I'm also very thankful to Bob. He is a heckuva good man to take time out to show us around. I'm looking forward to returning the favour for you, your son and your grandson.
Up around home we talk in land terms like quarter sections. Down there they measure land in sections and townships. It's amazing to me that you can get permission from a single landowner that would take a person a month of Sunday's to see it all. Lol. I've hunted in different areas of Canada but never have I been on a hunt like this. I got no doubt that a guy can shoot antelope from the truck but to get down in the thick of things crawling thru the stubble is a true spot and stalk unlike any other I've been on.

love your story Buddy, sorry to hear about your Dad...it's not often that the hero passes on at the beginning of a story...this one time it seems to fit though... very well thought out and written...you can feel the love in your words, there are reasons for everything, I'm glad you decided to go on and honour your Dad in this way...

Never thought of it that way. We were really hoping to take him along. He was looking forward to it as well right to the end.

Great story and great hunt. Thanks for sharing. I lost my Dad earlier this year and your story brought back a lot of emotions. No matter how much time we spend with our dads, sons, etc in the field it is never enough.

Just ate some of my antelope. Gotta say it was worth every inch of belly crawling. I would say it tastes like something in between big horn sheep and elk. Damn tasty for sure.

These are the threads that make this forum worthwhile.
That's a helluva urn, and I'm going to guess very fitting for who your Dad was, and the memories he has left with you all.
Nice.

I’m not sure what I like better the goat pics or your Fathers Urn. I just showed the wife and told her to stick my ashes in something like that. Well done

Sorry about your Dad, guy. His passing timed right with the 'lopes adventure beats a funeral at -30 & a foot of snow. I'm sure he's tickled how it worked out. Great story & pics!!

Haha I was waiting for those to surface. All guts stink but those antelope smell the worst I think. There was some heaving and barfing in the process of gutting my brothers. Made Bob's and Jessie's day watching and listening to me heave.
