As a property rights advocate I would agree with your statement.
The problem is that wildlife is owned by all citizens so yes a deer herd lives on a piece of deeded land but the landowner does not own them. A city backyard birdfeeder would be the same.
Toss in publically owned lease land where a rancher leases the grass but doesn't own the wildlife and you have another situation.
This is a complex question.

Guess the numbers are stagnant...in the areas near birdfeeders

I would say it’s up but the mites are as bad as I have ever seen. Talked to Two other skinners and they are seeing the same thing. Does anybody know why the mites are a lot worse in my particular area??

I would say my numbers are up but the quality of fur is down. Lots of mite damage.

What percentage of your coyotes have mites? I'm right around 25% same as last year

Got more now than we had all last. Starting to see more with shoulder mites and mange showing up than we did earlier in the season.

Default Coyote numbers

I'd say slightly up from last year, from what I've been seeing. Caught 18 coyotes and 2 fox in the last 2 weeks. 4 coyotes were poor with mites, and 1 had full blown mange. Happy New Year to everyone!
