Default Beaver Behaviour Question

Hey beautiful people,

I have a pond in my back yard and it recently came to light that there is a family of beavers making a mess down there.

I broke the dam last night and I managed to shoot one of the adults - I think.

I went down there again last night and the babies were trying to repair the dam.

my questions are:
will the other adult beaver stick around? how much time do I have to hunt the mate?
If I am successful, who in the Calgary area would like to the carcasses; free and up for grabs.

Thanks for the help

B

They will stick around. Really hard to shoot all the beaver. They get snap art really quick

You can shoot them all but you have got to spend the time

Early morning and evening sitting there waiting for them

Good luck

I found that using a beaver lure upwind of their house helps when I am shooting beaver. They have an excellent sense of smell and when they smell the lure they become curious and will even come onto land to investigate.

You say the beavers are in your pond. Is the pond on a creek? Makes me wonder if you mean you busted a beaver dam or a beaver house?

If you break a dam it may give the beavers the idea they need more wood and they will commence to chewing down saplings for dam repair. Then you are losing more saplings.

If you are on a creek section if you remove all the beavers other beavers may come.
