Vern is the name of my friend's Mammoth donkey. Just for kicks we evaluated him with an app that identifies horse breeds. Apparently, Vern is a German Riding Pony.

I adopted my border collie from Heaven Can Wait and have boarded my dogs at the associated kennel, Room to Run. I can't say enough about this place - they're the ones in High River who took in hundreds of animals after the flood.

Vote once a day, please. And thank you, Molly, for posting this!

Sorry all but I'm with Pikergolf I am sick of these animal rescues saving every animal. Then crying they need food to feed them all. Why not help people we need more help then animals do. Animals know how to survive. People not so much.

I like animals, but there is no end of abused animals or groups trying to save them all. Local horse rescue has over 160 and they're fund raising without end. A lot of them would be better off with euthanasia. It's an impossibility and we have a lot of other needs to meet.

Not to mention Grizz the people running these rescues are against our right to hunt.

Molly did a nice thing by posting the link.

Heaven Can Wait does good work in and for the community. Their services have probably helped thousands of PEOPLE, as well as their animals.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...pets-1.1871332

They rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned and surrendered animals. I hope none of the naysayers ever have to make the heart-wrenching decision to surrender their animal, or require a rescue's help if health, financial or family circumstances require that you need to temporarily place your animal somewhere safe.

Seems there's always someone throwing shade on a well intentioned suggestion. This isn't a political conversation, it's a shout out for a helping hand. It doesn't take a penny away from anyone to support this rescue by voting for them. If you don’t want to support them, fine. No need to be critical.

Thanks, Deb, for saying what I was thinking last night after reading the negative responses. I have yet to see a dog in Walmart buying his own dogfood, or a cat dragging itself to the vet with a broken leg, debit card in paw, so there is always a need for kind hearted souls who WISH to assist in any way they like. AND HCW excels at what they do, and they were nominated for this contest by others.
As for the comment about all rescues being anti-hunting...for the record, we have donated the bones from the Hublet's hunts for the last six years to...a dog rescue in Calgary!! And...they are very grateful!! They even happily take packages of game that have been living in our freezer a little too long. And send me photos of their foster dogs gnawing on dem bones!! So, sure, some rescues may be against hunting but some are not. Woof.

PS. 4139 and counting...

One for Vern and Tundra. I found Tundra at Heaven Can Wait in 2005. She passed in 2013, but the effect she had lasts on.

An update from HCW...One vote with one device per day!!

https://www.facebook.com/14858694182...type=3&theater

Beautiful dog, Parker!! We lost ours in 2015, a private adoption, and we are still dogless, sadly, due to circumstance. Bean is remembered multiple times per day as she is my login photo on my computer and part of too many passwords!
