On days like these ..... I'm sure glad I'm the fat guy ..... lol ..... send the skinny guy down the hole, I would be happy to be the guy chopping the ice to make him a hole !

I'm sure it's safer than walking in 6" of ice. 12' thick or more sea ice isn't going to shift or collapse very often, if ever.
Those nut jobs that dive for miles in underwater caves are the ones playing with fire.
