Spring Snow

A nice bit of moisture! Now over a foot out west of Calgary. Patting myself on the back for the generator upgrade last year while kicking myself in the a for not getting an interlock on the panel. Extension cords for now

Snow has almost stopped. Have about 4 inches of heavy wet stuff. Shovelled the driveway and it’s stayed snow free so enough heat from the sun to melt.

If the countryside had ground thawing… this should be a moisture boost. The last snow sublimated and melted fast.

I hope the mountains got a dump.

Six inches on the deck in Canmore with more expected tonight. I would imagine the high country got a good dump.

A couple of inches of wet snow in South Calgary. It looks like it will melt soon.

It seems to me that the weather warnings are exaggerated.

My kids in Calgary just told me the same thing, I was expecting Clagary to get more. I am only 60k west and it’s coming down nicely

It sort of tried to snow here around noon-2;30, saw some flakes, mainly a very light drizzle of rain, so far. Shows 34F here at 6;30pm. Visibility at present is about a 1-1/2mi. See what happens, melts the snow piles a bit faster.

Edmonton and north finally got a spring snow event. Places like Peace River are in trouble with little mountain snow pack to ensure river flow in the summer. That in turn means problems for their water treatment plant to supply the town and regional area's drinking water needs.

This snow will damp down the risk of forest fires for a while, and will help with moisture for seeding this spring.

Hopeful for a good average of rainfall this summer so that the crops have a chance for the farmers.

Wind and snow in Calgary. Most snow on land with south exposure has melted. But the wind was some kinda nasty.

Had a dam rattle squeak creaky noise that happens in a big wind. I’d hear it and go look for it and wouldn’t hear it again. Then it would go off again.

Finally today I found out what it was. A patio glass insert would shake out of its groove and rattle in heavy wind and would get pinned again for a while.

Now it’s fixed!

Had a very slighy touch of rain that got the roads wet enough to get icy with a tiny bit of snow and wind glaze, was ugly at first light yesterday, all gone by noon though. Out on the porch in a shirt and T-shirt by 1;00pm. Haven't really had any useful moisture here, although I have grass starting to grow on the lawn, the fields are not in good shape around here moisture wise, most everything so far, has evaporated, rather than go in the ground.
