I use planer board quite a bit never thought of using it in river current to getaway from shore.. Have you tried it how did it work ..sounds good.

it would work if you are fishing the current, but most river fishermen fish eddies and structure so it might have its place I guess but Ive never tried it.

Again years ago ....I'm very old..lol...we use to spread egg shells or white rock below our holes in our ice shacks we figured the lighter color not only attracted fish but it made it easier for sight fishing.had done it for quite a few years so before trying it called F&W asked them about it. They said it was illegal to do even if you use material from that lake it is considered restructuring the lake bottom.
or, during a slow day on the ice, you got bored and decided to create a summer forage area/structure by bringing rocks from shore and stacking them on the ice so when the ice would melt it would let the rockpile sink thus making a forage structure (deep enough so as not be a hazard).
Build your ice-fishing shack out of cinderblock, and then just forget about bringing it in come spring, just like a lot of others do.

you could always tell the fish cops someone told you to go fly a kite Im sure it would be the same as using a remote control boat to take your line out and drop it further than you can cast, I dont think you need a boaters license if you cant sit in it. or do you
not if I left my name on it like an iceshack and "promised" to dismantle it before spring thaw.
Pleeeeease tell me when/where you are doing this; after a couple months of chinooks/warming trends & those rocks are frozen half way into the ice I want to watch you grunt, groan, & pull those babies out of the ice with a crow bar in March!
