Minnow traps?

Has anyone used or made a minnow trap? did you have much luck? wat bait did you use? I would like to try out a minnow trap thinking ahead for hard water season then wont have to go lookin for bait it will be in my freezer.

Yep Use to use them , go to be to much hassle and letting people B***h and complain about me keeping Minnows , then pull out the regulations to prove that they two could do so .

Just gotta put your WIN card number on , they work pretty good , can of Cat food with holes couple hours later get 100 or more Minnows .

What if I dont want catfish, if I use dogfood instead will I get dogfish? I have a dipnet, caught a bunch of minnows at Sylvan one time and had to pull the regs out too, everyones an expert even if its at nothing LOL all you have to do is release any non legal baitfish and sports fish and kill your minnows on the spot. I had an ice cream pail with heavily salted water, just drop them in and you are set.

What I find is just to use a simple pop-bottle minnow trap, they are amazing, no bait either, and I get everything there from suckers to stickleback.

and they are basically free to make..

I use the pop bottle trap without the holes with a little sugar water and a tiny drop of dish soap for hornets, works like a charm.

I took some 1/8 mesh and wraped around 2 spout ends off 2liter pop bottles and baited with dry dog food works great !! I have used it about 10 times the best was open creek dam was in for 3 hours and got over 60 sucker minnows 5 inches long will be great pike bait.
