Are We Friendly Canadian Fly Fisherman?
Had the pleasure of fly fishing a couple of eastern slope rivers in SW Alberta on Friday. Fly fishing was slower than normal due to the hot weather and lower river levels.
My buddy and I ran into a school principle from Seattle Washington who was also fly fishing one of our favorite spots for cutties. We stopped and talked to him for 15 or 20 minutes in our friendly manner exchanging ideas and location information about fly fishing. We told him of 3 or 4 more productive fishing areas on 2 rivers and he thanked us very much.
As our US friend was leaving he said, “ this is why I love coming to Canada to fly fish – because Canadians are so polite, friendly and willing to help out finding spots to fish. You are very lucky to live and fish in such a country.”
I guess we take a lot of things for granted and complain about the state of fly fishing in Alberta but it is nice to know that our American friend appreciated Canada and us friendly Canadian fly fisherman!
Proud to be a Canadian - tight lines and enjoy great fishing.
