Elec field butchering knife
Anyone have experience with a light weight portable power saw - removing head, legs, etc on elk or moose.
Thx

I have many friends who use a cordless Sawzall.
They work well.

Darn tootin !!
Cordless saw is the only way to go, head, legs, brisket, in half, quarters, however you see fit !!
The knives do the meat, let the saw do the bones!!!
Have had for years, makes life... SO much easier. Not that it shouldn't all be easy, you still have to pack an animal out, but on the butcher side of things??
My two meat saws don't see too much action anymore..

Milwaukee
One of my partners brought out a brand new Milwaukee 6" pruning chain saw, tell you what it made quick work on a couple elk we were lucky to harvest.
It was a M12 Electric version - https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Produc...t/Saws/2527-20 A little messy though, think wood chips, but it was efficient.
I have, and used the larger M18 Sawzall but it is heavier, (like two hands required) and unless you have the right blade for it the chainsaw beats it hands down.

This is a moose that I took completely apart by myself with this knife. You don’t need much to butcher an animal in the field.

Don't see where the batteries go on that Havalon knife? Are they AA or AAA?
Good effort on the boneless - did you do it all guts in?

I have a Milwaukee cordless sawzall. It stays in the truck when hunting. So nice and easy.

I have a MILWAUKEE M18 Fuel Hackzall. Smaller than the Sawzall and can be used with one hand.

I have an old cordless Rigid reciprocating saw that easily does the job. And a pack of spare blades. I never go hunting without it.
No need to spend tons of money on one either, so you don't need a Milwaukee or Dewalt for what a Ryobi can do. I also own a Ryobi one and it works as good as any other.
