Default Butcher/Freezer Paper in Calgary

where do all the Calgary folks get their butcher paper from? I can't seem to find a spot that isn't sold out. Bass pro, and Cabelas are both sold out too. (which IMHO should never happen seeing as though their only reason for existing is to supply us outdoorsmen with the supplies & tools we require, but I digress)

My wife took our left over roll out to her parents place to help them out with the deer the father-in-law got. While she was there I got myself a nice doe. They used up all the paper, now I haven't any, and can't find any.

My doe is patiently waiting in her cooler of ice so she is safe for now.

Can someone please point me in the right direction, I'd hate to resort to zip lock bags.

I've tried google searching and each place I've called tell me they are sold out or don't carry it any longer.

Thanks in advance.

Most grocery stores should carry it. You could also ask a local butcher if they will sell you some.

You could use this opportunity to buy a vacuum sealer. After I bought mine I haven't even thought of using butcher paper anymore. Plus it has so many more uses than just meats.

You will love your food sealer. I have full rolls of meat paper i would give you if we were closer. No more paper and no more taping. Vacuum sealer all the way now...

We stopped vac sealing our meats, after too many popped open and developed some freezer burn.

We have found that wrapping each cut of meat tightly in Saran wrap, then in butcher paper, our meats last much longer without spoil. If a small hole does get poked into the Saran, there is no pressure equalization like with vac sealing bags. Very rarely do we need to trim away any freezer burnt meat, even on cuts from two years ago.

You can try High Caliber. I've never been in there but their website has all that stuff listed.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. once again AO members came through with some helpful info! I really appreciate it.

I went with the food saver system option form Costco. this doe won't last long anyway. the last one didn't even make it until spring before it was eaten. we eat red meat with every meal including breakfast most days. when there is wild meat in the freezer it never lasts long.

thanks again everyone.

CTR or DNR in Calgary both have rolls of it. Great people at both of them.
