Default slow afternoon on Lesser Slave with a nice ending.....

- 20 is no match for the cabin, so I headed out for an afternoon of fishing.

Put on a fire and dropped a couple lines, and prepared for action!

One small pike right away then........................SLOOOOOW.

Managed three small barley legal walleye.

Around 5:00 there was a furious little bite for a few minutes where I even had a double header, one on my line and one on the dead line, then nothing for about 1/2 hour.

Then right at 5:30 I get a hit. It had a lot of head shake so I figured it was a pike......you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I got this walleyes head into the hole

My best walleye of the hardwater season so far, she was just shy of 64 cm.

Funny how a nice fish can make a slow afternoon totally worth it!

Nice fish, are you set-up at joussard? Was out there a couple of weeks ago, for 2 days, it was slow but caught enough for a couple of feeds, buddy landed an 8 lb jack, took some picks & threw him back.

It can be slow all day and then one nice fish can change the entire mood.

Fishermen are a strange breed of humans.

Nice set up btw

Awesome fish!

Very nice shack, what are the dimensions of your fishing hut?

A slow day fishing beats a good day at work.

Default Cost to Rent Your Cabin

What would the fee be for renting your cabin per day, for myself and my wife, if we had another couple with us would the price double?

With that said, what days are available?

Cheers doyle

Hey everyone, thank you for the great comments.

Instead of quoting everyone to answer some questions and comments, I'll just put some answers down in point form.

- I am not set up at Joussard, actually straight north of there across the lake, I access the area from Hilliards Bay Provincial Park boat launch. Access is actually really good considering the warm weather and mini melt we had.

- Wayne is allowed to have any kind of messy shack he wants, he is the jedi master of fishing!

- The cabin in the pics is 8x8 ( inside ) and has four holes.

- Yes, the one is the pics is one of my rentals.

- Rates are $85.00 per day, regardless of group size.
( although you can only cram so many people into a cabin!! )

- I actually don't have any reservations until Family Day ( Feb 15 / 16 ) .

If anyone wants to come out for a great day of fishing, get a hold of me at the contact info listed below this post.

Happy fishing, all!

If you end up making any overnight style cabins put me down for one as I would gladly leave the shanty town at Jouassard.

We usually run over to cutbank for a few hours to fish and get out of the shack...provided the weather is good.

I am actually staying in Joussard this weekend ....with the melt is it better suited for a quad or have you got enough snow recently for a snowmobile?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I actually DO have a 10 x 12 with bunks in it but I ran out of time this fall and early winter to get it all ready, so considering I am just starting out with the rental venture, I decided to go with day rentals for the first season and see how it goes. I will have an overnighter out there next winter.

There still is quite a bit of snow, so a snowmobile should be fine. The "main road" in is really packed and hard, but a ski-doo should have no problems crossing the lake.

And yeah, if you find yourself out at Cutbank this weekend, come say hi! I am taking a couple out that have never iced fished before, so I'll be out there for sure.

Look for the Canadian flag flying above the cabin! Good luck fishing.
