Steve,

Nice feesh.

BeeGuy,

Do you like Rainbows more because of the fight or the look?
Me I'm all about the browns, I love the colours and markings. I was brought up fishing Kamloops lakes so maybe Browns are more exotic to me....

wellllllll, I grew up mostly in S. Ont where we have both resident and lake run browns and rainbows. They both get big, way bigger, and resident river fish are regularly bigger than what I see from the Bow (in town).

IMO rainbows fight 10x better than browns. I'll take a 18-20" Bow R. rainbow over a 20-24" Bow R. brown anyday.

Where I grew up, pike and resident browns have crushed the native brookie populations in medium sized rivers. I see browns as an exotic invader. Brookies in these systems are confined to the upper reaches of headwaters now.

I don't want to catch a brookie or a brown in AB or BC, there are plenty of native species to chase.

I spent about a decade working all over BC and I love the variability seen in the rainbows across different watersheds. This mostly goes for river and creek trout as many of the lakes have been subject to stocking programs.

I agree, some of the browns have nice markings/colours. I wonder how the Bow would fish if Browns had never found their way into it.

The brown is a symbol of colonialism as well. Aus, S. Am. etc

That said, pulling one of those typical 3lb browns out of the Bow is still fun.

Anyways, just my $0.02.

Thanks, grinr,(and everyone else) for the kind comments.
I think slivers86 answered your question pretty well in post #24; that's the hat a bunch of us wore as volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club fishing day.
Also, as much as I love flyfishing, I don't consider myself a flyfisher. I own a spincast rod or 6. I've been known to throw a spoon, spinner or Rapala. I'll also jig a minnow for walleye or soak a smelt or herring for pike. I'll even sit in a tent on the ice with Wayne Christie & let him hog most of the fish.
I just PREFER to flyfish...

Thanks, Dace; I appreciate that.
Maybe I'll have some pics to add on Friday, if the forecast is even close to being right & I get the day off that I've requested. About 90% sure of being off work & on the river; which reminds me- I think I left my kneepads under the boss's desk...
(Pssst...Whatchu doin' Friday???)

I use a Olympus Stylus 850SW; it's a shockproof, waterproof point & shoot.

I hate it when the fish looks you in the eye and sais "Eat Me"

I tell them to watch their mouth and then do as they say.

Steve man, awesome as usual! I fish the Bow 100+ times a year and I'm amazed we haven't run into each other. We should try and get out soon. I've fished with the Texan before...good guy.

I've officially got Friday off work. is that too soon?

Yeah, the Texican is good people, for sure; I've spent a lot of good days on the water with him.
