Nice fish.

Tip 1 purchase a cotton or rubber landing net to avoid having the fish bounce all over the ground. Unlike us they don't have eye lids and their protective slime coating is being damaged.

Tip 2 replace trebels with single hooks. Beter hook ups less harm to fish.

I was talking to a guy this weekend who after seeing my Rapala lures said that you can't use 2 hooks on any lure at the Bow. Anyone else heard of this?

....

Don't believe everything you hear..

Even in BC you can run a rap with 2 single hooks.. unless the regulations say otherwise.

So the treble hooks need to be replaced with singles? Checked regs and the wording was not clear (to me)

In BC, yes - Single hooks only.

Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but I am almost certain you can still use a lure with 2 single hooks to replace the 2 trebles in bc.

Here's a good q.. Do you hook up the singles hook point facing the front or the back of the rapala?

Sadly, it sounds like you met the all too common bow river dipfuzzle, a creature so arrogant that they say there are 57 commandments in the bible and that only they know the true regulations for alberta waters. I hope yiu didnt stand too close to him, as I hear dipfuzzles breed didymo.

I face the hook toward the front of the lure. Not a big deal on the rear of the lure but would make a difference on the middle and or front of the lure.

Also try to get single hooks where the eyelet is in-line with the shank.

Great Catch.

Nice to see how trout looks. Never caught trout before but did catch several burbot in winter ice fishing. those are very bad looking guy and hold there mouth closed. finally have to give up the hook.

Hi, EastCoastFisherman

Can you give me a help on where to fish in Bow river? I just moved to here and need to stick in Calgary. Tried twice in downtown bow but no luck. Thanks alot.

Well I like to fish in fish creek park SE,,But since you live close to dtown i would recommend heading towards bowness and try your luck, Never was skunked down in that area just make sure your using the right tackel .
