In the high winds, I try to get in close to a swamp or something where the likelihood of there being a coyote within a couple hundred yards is high in the first place.
I find that wailing away on the open prairie is far less effective in heavy winds but sometimes I get surprised. Got a double last year in the middle of a blizzard with 200 yard visibility and strong swirling winds. I figured I may as well not walk any further in those conditions so I sat down for a snack and turned the caller on. Couple minutes later two coyotes appeared out of the haze and trotted in perfectly. That was on a day I could have and probably should have stayed in bed. You never know...
