Dropper nymph?

I keep asking this and I haven't got a solution that I like (not by you guys).

1. Tie dropper on to the hook of the floating fly, I don't like this answer.
2. Tie second fly to the eye of floating fly, don't like this either
3. Tie a second leader on to the first leader above floater, don't like this either.

I've been laying out a line for almost 70 years but never learned how to fish 2 flys or a nymph. With a $10 glass rod I bought from CTC, a silk DT line and a leader made up of about 5 short pieces I fished wet flys for years until I switched to better equipment and grasshoppers.

I'd appreciate any help and advice that you can give. THX

Can you explain why you don't like the options?

Pretty much the only option you left is tie a dropper to the tag end coming from the first fly… it depends on the style of fishing what method I tie, couple nymphs under an indicator, I tend to tie to the eye, streamers in tandem, I use separate leader sections, otherwise I like to tie to the bend of the hook.

The these anbove option work however there is at least two more:.

1) leave one leg of the tippet knot long and tie the dry there
2) the dry just has the leader through the eye above the tippet knot. The dry sits 90 degrees from leader improving hooking rare. Barry M. Used this technique.

Get a real, real sharp knife and a magnifying glass. Split the mono or flouro leader with great precision. Tie one floating fly to the left side of the mono and the nymph on the right. The lighter fly will naturally float above the nymph. If the fish are deeper make the split longer....

This is my go to. I still have tangles but I attribute that to poor technique.

Okay we will try the leaving the tag end of the leader on the nymph long and tie the dry fly there. I'm interested in the ring option. Does it adversely effect the float of the dry fly?

It occurred to me that a tippet end may be used up quick.
So, above the tippet knot tie in a length of leader material using a series of overhand wraps. As the knot tightens it will look a lot like a nail knot. Tie the dry on the leg facing the rod.
And last, use a slower rod, quit false casting so much, the nymph can’t have 30wraps of 0.030” lead wire, learned how to roll cast to set up cast c/w one false cast
