Default Looking to re barrel a weatherby mark 5

Hey guys. Ive got a weatherby mark 5 in .243 and would like to get it re barelled. Ive never had any experiences with gunsmiths so dont have any idea what the cost of this would be. The factory barrel has a bulge about six inches from the end. Also any recommandations for gunsmiths? Im from lac la biche so someone closer than edmonton would be nice but if it means getting it done right. I'll drive farther thats not a problem

Thanks

Barrel $450. Bluing and high polish to match Mark V, guesstimate, $200. Chamber and install barrel $250. You will put a big hurt on a $1000 bill. I have used all three of these over the years and all do very good work. I have not had anything blued in years so you will need to check which of these guys could do that if you are going Chrome Moly.

Unless you are attached to the rifle, or WANT to build something on it - probably better off selling it the way it is (obviously disclosing the problem to the buyer).

Which model are we talking about?

Rks built me a 257 wby with gain twist for $ 600. Took about 9 mths to return which is reasonable. Call him and discuss then ship the gun.

That is a truly excellent price! and he does very good work. Did that include Blueing or did you go SS?

Google pics of his barrel he made for single shot tom out of rebar, epoxy, haywire. Its makes you smile then look at the groups it prints.

I had a Krieger barrel installed on my .257wby. It was also 26" long, without the Weatherby freebore. The factory barrel wouldn't do better than moa, but the new barrel easily went under 1/2moa.
