I am pretty sure the scores with be posted to the Central Alberta Archers website in the next couple of days. Was nice to see you and your Family there this year, hope to see you at some more shoots!

Big thank you to the organizers of the Mother for this year! Three challenging courses offered and a great job of handling the 600 plus archers that attended. Congrats to all the winners, especially Dale Farn who walked off with some pretty good change in his pocket for winning the grand prix event.
I especially want to thank ALL THE ARCHERS for their tremendous effort to keep within the 4 minute shooting time for each station! Because of this we were able to keep on schedule for both days for over 600 archers. KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!

Does anyone know the lady who was taking pics at the shoot? She took a bunch of pics of my boys shooting & gave me her card, but I've misplaced it.

Back in the day when we started 3D shoots it was to hone up the bowhunting skills with bowhunter tackle...and enjoy a great day with fellow bowhunters...
Enjoyed many years in the circut...then things started to get strange...very competitive shooters with fancy target bows and two foot stabilizers started taken over...politics and noses in the air made it not fun anymore...
But yes if there were a true hunter class reinstated...I would shoot for fun and the adventures ...lol

It is what you make of it Neil...you still need to come out and shoot and have fun. See how things are now, it's as competitive as YOU want to make it. Easy to hold onto the past and how it WAS if you don't come out to see how it IS
There is a true hunter class at nearly every shoot (just not at the mother unless you shoot compound fingers)....just non-competitive, isn't that what you are asking for?
Start looking at reasons to participate instead of excuses not to . IMHO there are way more reasons to shoot....that's why I do it

From the www.centralalbertaarchers.ca website -> MOAS -> Sponsors you will see a hyperlink to VMoore Photography. Veronica is the lady who was onsite taking pictures.

Yes, it the category you go in your very first time there. It's the only time you can go in it. All equipment class first timers.

That was well said LC Look for reasons to participate. So many of these people who "used to shoot the circuit" still need lots of practice At the mother each round had 27 targets, out to a maximum of 50 yards( longest I shot was 45 yards but who really knows ... No rangefinder). Scoring an 8 or better would represent a good kill shot while hunting. I know I know u can hit the femoral and kill them as well but u can also gut shoot them and have someone else find them
Cause the chances of u finding them are pretty slim. Point I'm trying to make is it might make some people realize their maximum shot distance. There's so many people shooting further than bows should be shooting. I watched a show on Wild TV.the other day and a guy missed 2 mule deer shooting across coulée . Long long shots . He's still a licensed bow hunter in Alberta and on TV. I'd be interested to see if he could average 8 points per target on Drayton Valley outdoor course. Where shots are up and down hill like a coulee but foam targets are not breathing like a mule deer. No rushed shot, no buck fever, and no wounded animals giving Alberta bow hunters a bad name
