Default Red deer river near the forestry trunk road bridge

Has anyone been out to the bridge over the red deer river at the forestry trunk road in the last few days? Is there enough open water to get my annual first day of the season fishing trip going? Any pics?

Thanks!

Fished there last year 2nd weekend of april.
River was nice and low but still 6' banks of ice.
Weather has been decent I would imagine you'd be fine.

Ever catch anything on your first day out in april on the red deer?

Ya I've caught a few bulls. Three in the last four Years. All on white wooley buggers. Not great but better than nothing. The trip is more to just get out and start the season.

This year I'll have to wait for my days off which don't fall on the 1st but whatever. As long as i get out.

Hit me up if you want company on opening week, fishstix.
It would be nice to shoot the shiat about the red deer. Don't fish it much.

Noticed the change in the regs this year to a zero limit for the Red Deer.

I usually C+R anyway but none the less.

Lots of ice! There was a narrow channel of water open but I wasn't brave enough to venture out on the ice to fish it. Tried in the town of sundre which had alot more open water but it was like chocolate milk.
