I believe its September 8th. I am actually glad its a bit late this year because I am training new staff up until the 8th, after than I am gone hunting as much as I possibly can. I hope there is a big mule buck with my name on it!

Along the Peace?

Nice. I would like a velvet specimen but bucks of any size almost always strip their velvet by the end of the 1st week in Sept.

Nice deer, hoping I can find one of my own this year, although the area where I live isn't renowned for big ones. But you never know what a guy may come across...

what an awesome field pic...well done, heck of a deer too!

agree that velvet with sept 8 opener will be tough to pull off, i managed 2 years ago on opening day when it opened sept 3rd and i think mamba scored within a few days of me on a whopper...maybe five days later? so could be done on the first day or two of season maybe? will be tight

From what I have seen the bigger bucks keep velvet longer. I guess they aren't so anxious as the little bucks to get on with the rut. Depending on the year, a guy usually has a good week to 10 days after sept. long before the bucks rub off in my area. I always wanted to get a nice buck with velvet strands hanging all over the place.

Its funny, I used to chase sheep on opening day but spot and stalk mulies are bso much fun too hunt i havent been after sheep for 5 years now.
