Havent gotten eyes on it, but headed there this weekend to have a look around.

Was out to Cow yesterday to test a new to me tinner. Dead big trout all over and quite a few Pike too. Saw some guys who caught a few small pike. Was just stocked with small trout again, saw lots swimming around.

Yeah went out there week before opening to test a new outboard. pretty quiet on the sounder and lots of good sized dead trout on shore. Probably wont be the hot spot it was last year this season

Question anyone have pictures of cows winter kill

Just wondering if anyone had pictures of cow lakes winter kill, a buddy of mine and i had a fight last spring about how this lake never winter kills. He was sitting up on his soap box giving me the gears about how i knew nothing and bla bla bla, i was like watch and see cow lake always was a 3-5 year lake. Most of those little stocked lakes out west are the same about once every 3-5 years there is a cold long winter that takes it toll on the trout (as trout are very oxygen sensitive) Pike and perch can survive longer periods with low o2 levels.
Hence the reason perch did so well in that lake, some would say they did to good and became over populated. I tend to disagree the over populated statements, with a 15 perch limit, the number of fish was doing ok, I was personally able to catch my limit of 9-11 inch perch pretty much every time i took the kids out there. If the people want a good Trout lake crimson lake is perfect, deep holes to help with winter kill, and it has a few year round campsite and parks that would help with the aeration.

No perch means the trout can grow very rapidly to a large size because food resources are not limited.
Perch populations always explode with no predators around and you end up with a stunted population.
