I remember when I was a kid rats were only worth 1-2 dollars. 4-5 doesn't sound so bad to me

Not saying that 4-5 is that bad , guess everyone got spoiled with the prices we saw for a couple years .What were coyotes selling for back then ?

I remember getting 3-5$ a rat back in the day. With the price of inflation I think todays prices are a joke for rats. Yes we do it for a bit of fun but if you can't make a decent amount for your time as well it starts to not be fun after a while. If the exchange rate was at par the this would be a real kick in the teeth.

if it wasn't for canada goose. we'ld probably be back to 40-50-60 $ coyotes now. with the sudden down turn in the oil patch. i can't imagine everybody and there dog will continue to be buying parkas for their wives, kids, mistresses, mothers, employes, etc.
the bubble's going to have burst some time soon.
last year we needed the chinese to return. now we need the russians to be back,,,,,,,,,,,,,and a big conventional land war somewhere. to drive the price of oil back up.
at least it was good for awhile eh!!

I think with prices dropping a lot of people will not trap as hard. If there is less fur around maybe prices will come back up. I was wanting to do some rat trapping this spring but this morning kinda slowed me down. I will get out and get a few this spring but i won't be hitting it hard and catching the 500+ I did last spring. Might just spend the spring putting new marten boxes up and clearing some trails and doing some fishing instead.

We never caught many coyotes back then H380, and we called them brush wolves.
I do remember big blanket beaver being worth $60-80 a piece and the old man selling Lynx for $400-600 a piece. Their quota was only 1 per line so I think dad and grandpa were only getting 3 a year. If I remember correctly they were getting $150 a piece for fisher then too.

marketing marketing marketing while I agree with you braggadoe the coyote prices are high cause of Canada goose jackets and it will bust sooner or later it will depend on marketing what I mean by this is if they can start marketing over seas and wherever they can get there product out. with the expantion of there plant they must have some ideas of where there going to market there product.

Figures , I haven't sent a coon in ages and this year sent a couple just to test the market . both good ones , 3xl and 2 xl selects and neither sold .. test complete .. lol . Guess I helped out the pheasant poplulation a little , I'll still catch but maybe not skin any more. Best stick to coyotes .

disappointed in the lynx prices but nothing a guy can, trap them again next year and hope for better prices. Now fisher that is much better, who knows what those buyers want

Sold my first Marten ever! Got $23. It was one of my trap damaged ones. Got to love using those bone smashing traps lol
Sold a lynx for a whole $48 as well. Sad really
The real big disapointment for me this sale was my Fisher. I was going to get it tanned and wish I would have now. It was a real nice big fisher. Got a whole $54 for an I*. Thought at least I would get $100 for that one.
Oh well I guess it is the way she goes. I am holding onto my Marten and sending them in for next years 2nd sale. I'm a little frustrated right now as you can tell. I am getting other options to sell my fur right now for better than auction prices with a few ideas I have so at least I am making fair money on a lot of my stuff. Got most my lynx sold privately already and a list for next year already as well. In tough times like this I think it is the best way to go

My average on Marten was $74 usd...I only had 8 in the sale. 3 were over $100, the rest ranged from $54-$80 usd...Prices were up from what I expected....
Was pleased with my Fisher as well...the 2 *selects sold for $130 and $154(top dollar I believe) and my 2 *1's sold for $132 and $90 USD...only wish I had more fur in the auction...congrats to all !!
