Default Any braided line as backing?

Hey folks, will this work as the Dacron backing that you would usually use?

Yeah it definitely does. What fly companies market as "gel spun backing" is essentially braided line. I use 20lb power pro on my 3wt reel, not that I need the 20lb strength, but it's the perfect diameter. I fished with a person who used it on his 6wt reel.

Thanks, I'm thinking of a new reel but it'd will need 200 yds of backing, and where I've gone so far, there's no backing that has more than 150 yds. I'll try it out, and also I'll be be able to use a desired colour, instead of a basic white coloured backing like on my old reel

Careful with colored braided lines, they leak out a lot of that color. Dacron holds color much better.
