Default Helix 9SI and 10DI placement?

Hi all,

I got a great deal on a new Helix 10 DI recently and plan on adding it to my boat. I currently have a Helix 9SI with the compact SI transducer (was on the boat when I bought it new, no chance to exchange) linked to my iPilot Terrova. I find that I don’t use the SI a lot currently as most of the lakes I fish are rather featureless for obvious structure. The vegetation and bottom hardness seem to be better for me. My intention is to link both units to the iPilot through an Ethernet hub.

My question is if I should put the Helix 10 DI at the helm and move the 9SI to the bow, moving the compact SI transducer onto the Terrova or simply put the 10DI in the bow and put its transducer on the Terrova?

Most of my walleye fishing is bottom bouncing and pulling crankbaits.

Appreciate suggestions from those with experience.

SS

good question.. !! Sounds like you are driving my boat!! .... does the terrova not have a transducer in it that you can link to a finder??? Originally I was planning on leaving my Helix 9 at the wheel and just putting my Lowrance Elite 4 chirp on the terrrova at the bow ( but gonna sell it and get another Helix ) Either way just because of size Id put the smaller helix up front and the 10 at the wheel ( if it fits ) ... I'm all new to this high tech stuff .... I'm sure someone that knows something will chime in!!!!....

The Terrova does have a US2 transducer built in, however that does not do SI or DI. It is strictly 2D sonar, so it wouldn’t allow the units to be used to their full potential.
