Exclamation Arctic Fox travels from Norway to Canada

OK, from Spitsbergen (Svalbard Archipelago, Norway) to Ellesmere Island via Greenland. A cumulative distance of 3,506km in 76 days, over Arctic sea ice.
Stories here:

The Imgur story is short, but includes the .gif of the satellite tracking route:

I'm guessing there are not a lot of mice or ptarmigan along that route.

Very cool! Amazing what critters can accomplish, those kinds of distances I'd expect from a bird or a whale, but not from a fox.

This post brings back some great memories, spent a few weeks in Nov. 92 at Alert working with 1CEU Wpg. Very remote location on Ellesmere Island the Arctic Fox's were all over the place always looking for a easy meal, they liked to steal your leather work gloves, too.

D.

This pic may bring back some memories for some A/O Military members.

This guy was by my trailer keeping an eye out for the Arctic wolves.

Like those white arctic foxes...have flown to Alert 25 times maybe? C-130 crew.

Frozen Chosen.

Alert Airways: We only fly South

Operation Box Top.

Thule: Top of the World (TOW) Club.

Typical itinerary: Depart Trenton 0dark30, fuel at Iqaluit, RON at Thule AB Greenland, next day offload/reload at Alert, fuel at Thule, arrive back home 36 hours later and dog-tired...
