Default Barnes VG in 22-250

Anyone have any good "recipes" for the Varmint Grenade? I loaded some for the 22-250 using IMR4895 and am disappointed at the results. This is a new weatherby vanguard - the loads I did for the Hornady 55g SPX's shot nice with the max loads using IMR 8208
Never really had good luck with the VG's. I had good luck loading VG's for the 243....
any recommendations?

I've never heard anyone ever say anything good about those varmint granades. I tryed some 40gr ers in my hornet and they shot alright but not as good as the v maxes or the 52gr spears. I won't buy em anymore.

I just finished testing in my 220 swift. They shoot well, between 1/4 and 1/2" for 3 shots at 100 consistently, but they need to be pushed hard. I seat .020" off lands, and max load of IMR3031, for 4450 fps avg in 26" barrel. I did take them up to 4670, but that was hot loads. Did you try the 8208 with them, pushed to max? Barnes recommends .020" from the lands.

I had problems with the 36gr out of my 22-250. I have a 9 twist barrel and about a third of them never made it to the target. I have gotten the 50gr to shoot fine with 37gr RL-15, but they are picky about seating depth. My groups went from 2-3 inches at .030 from the lands to .5 - .6" at .005" off the lands.
