Default Utikuma Fishing Report

Just got back from a couple of days of fishing at Utikuma. Lots of snow! Caught some nice pike 15.5 lbs. the biggest. Also 2 nice perch. 12+Walleye caught were not keepers. Shiners and smelts on jigs worked best. Anyone fished Orloff lake lately? What is the access like for a 4x4?

I drove past the orlof lake turn off as i was returning from wabasca to edmonton.
That road is a high grade, gravel road, better than the wabasa gravel road.If I had fuel ,but tank was emty I would of driven in !

How thick was the ice?. Does a guy need an extension for the the old Jiff?.
Heading up there in April for a few days hopefully the weather is good like the past three years fishin Utikima. Nothing beats ice fishing in +15 with a T-shirt and sun screen and perhaps the odd pilsner.

Folks;
If you are going to Utikuma soon and plan to fish around the Islands I would have a 4x4 and atleast one set of chains. We fished 600 yds out from the middle access point and around the big Island. We used shiners and smelts on jigs for bait.
Good Luck

We turn off the highway before the Tower on the east side. There is an old campsite and a big old truck trailer parked at the north side of the corner. Still have the LH Savage -06

Hey Huntercam:

We started off by fishing the southside of the small island, about 300 yards to the north from the ice shack that was on the ice. Moved to the northside of the island and same results, alot of jacks, we seen a couple of perch on the screen and they were not interested caught a keeper walleye. Tryied a couple of other honey holes with no success. Were you the guys staying in the walltents on 80 road??
