Lots of bites. Hard to hookem. Shrimps are eating the bellies of the bait. Literally. Pull smelt up & it's engulfed by shrimp. 7 lbs leading, couple 6 lbers in 2nd & 3rd. 8 lbs leading in the junior category. Couple 4 lb burbs weighed in. Worst thing is gotta keep the beer in the car to stay warm...er. Otherwise gotta pound it or it freezes within 2 mins outside.

8 lb 12 oz took first. Another just over 8 was 2nd. 7 lb 1 oz took 3rd. In the junior division and 8+lber won. 1st prize was $1240. The pike were around but were hard to find. Very, Very, Very light biters. As I mentioned the shrimp were just crawling all over the bait.

Managed 2 myself today but biggest was 5 lb 12 oz. Roads were good, a tad chilly but all in all a fun derby.

Oh and a 4 lb burb won the burb category.
