Default Ruger 10/22 Front Sight Replacement

Hey Guys,

Getting my .22 ready for some upcoming grouse hunting with my lady. Somewhere between one of my moves, the front sight on my .22 fell off and was nowhere to be found. I drove to my closest gun shop (approximately 1hr away) and purchased a new front sight. When I put the new sight in, it slides around like crazy. I thought it was supposed to be a snug fit? If so, does anyone have any ideas on ways to make it a sure fit and that it won't fall off every time I take a shot with it?

Thanks
-Mike

Just make s paper thin shim out of a beer can and slide it under the sight as you tap in the sight with a small brass hammer. Mine was so bad put that I had to use two shims from made from the cylinder of a beer can.

Right on guys, thanks for the ideas. The beer can shims seem like my starting point since I have no shortage of empty cans.
