Default buck lake report - 08 july 07

gave buck a try for a day on sunday.
started around 9:30-ish right off the launch.
instantly hit a pike and a walleye!!!
slow after that. moved on down the shore til we found a good bay with lots of thick weeds. hit several more 'eyes!!! good, thick hogs!!!!
also pulled lots of pike of the weed edge. 2 being keepers. the spot then died and we went thru the midday quiet.
burned across to a different secret hole we know. trolled into the area and hit more big 'eyes!!! dang they got shoulders in that lake!!!
but the best was still coming...continued to troll shallower and as soon as we got to the 8' range we had a TRIPLE-HEADER!!!! all pike too!!!
stopped and casted around. instantly had a second triple header!!!!
the next 45 mins was NUTS!!! we landed around 10-12 fish!!!! doubling our whole day total!!!! the best part is they were ALL PIKE in the last frenzy!!!!! been a LONG TIME since we've seen that many nice pike in a day!!!!
after that it died again. i don't know if we just hit 'er perfectly or lucked into a freak frenzy or what.
we ended the day with 5 keeper pike between the 3 of us. 3 were over 70cm with the best hitting 75cm!!!!! awesome gators!!!!
the last hour upped the day's results like crazy. 2 triple headers and 4 more double headers!!! super-fun!!! gotta love sliming up the boat!!!!
overall the day was fair with a good last hour.
we'll be trying there again for sure!!!!
cheers, gw

hey dude,
glad you enjoy the posts!!
that's the whole idea of sharing them!!!
the lake was not bad busy...we had one boat tailing us and crowding us for a while when they saw us hit fish but other than that it was medium busy with lots of room.
1st time we hit that lake in a while. well worth it!!!!

yup!!!!
1 over 43cm.
like dorks, we kept our 1 each early not thinking to wait for a big one. easily got many over 43. we then proceeded to release bigger ones the rest of the day!!! ah well....an 'eye in the livewell is worth 2 in the lake....or something like that????

Hey WM! Good to hear about the fishing at Sourth Buck. I haven't heard a great report from there in a bit. I'm excited too

If you want the ultimate pike frenzy and don't mind C&R, try Floatingstone Lake in NB1 sometime. All you need is the 5-o-diamonds and a good strong arm.

hey snap,
thanks for the tip!!!
any size to them there???
sources tell me they average quite small...
any truth to that???
i am notorious for NOT doing trips unless the potential for hogs is there!!!
thanks for the input. gw

The rumours are true. My biggest to date there is 7 lbs. The average is around 2 lbs. We might catch about 20% or so that are in that decent range of 3.5 - 5 lbs.

I like Calling Lake myself for big pike. Not to mention the walleye that can be pulled out of there.
