A quick question about trapping

I took the albertas trappers course, years ago. Does it expire? for a guy like me who has the course, If I picked up some gear I can only trap private land or a line?? Would like to get a few critters for the man cave. With the prime of the season being here or very close to being here I would like to know lol. Thanks in advance
