Gophers with the bow?

What kind of heads do you use for gophers?

Blunts or Flew Flews ???...the ones with big feathers on the end to slow them down.
Then again some broadheads so you can stick them to the dirt hole they crawled out of.

I use Fender Washers behind a field point. The fender washers are 3/4" or an inch in diameter. They wack the gophers hard and the washer slows down a skip considerably. If the washers get bent just take them off and hit them flat with a hammer. I bought my last ones at Home Depot. A couple bucks buy lots.

Great idea with the washers. I just can't bring myself to drop $10+ on a small game head

Judo point, used to use G5 small game heads but because they are rigid they tend to snap off easier. The spring claws on a judo point seem to hold up better

I like judos, put aluminum collars on your carbon arrow on both ends and it'll be indestructible. My record is 73 gophers in a day with the longbow and I've never broken an arrow set up with the collars on the ends.

Sorry I haven't any pics. There's charts online that will tell you the diameter of your carbon arrow, other charts give you the inside diameter of aluminum arrows. Find a piece of an aluminum that's the right size, cut off a inch or so and slip it over the end of the carbon with some 24 hour epoxy (the better the epoxy the longer it's gonna last). I do the nock. End too because nocks can drive foreward and split the arrow. Done in both ends you'll be amazed at the toughness of the arrow, I do all my hunting arrows like that too.

Lots of good info thank you. I will have to try what the last post suggested got some Gophers but smashed a few arrows.
