Default Gull Lake Access Conditions?

Can anyone provide an update on the drive-on access at Gull Lake at the various points? I'm hoping to do Gull once more this season and I'm sure others can find this info useful as well. Last week the RV resort was dicey because they've detoured around the boat launch. You now have to go across a mud flat to the left. You better have 4x4. Sunnyside was good except I was a little nervous crossing the pressure ridge.

Went up to Gull three days ago, we accessed at Wilsons's with a 4x4. There is a pretty big puddle on the shoreline at the boat launch that we had to drive around. The ice was thick, almost three feet if I were to take a guess, just off the boat launch. We got skunked, I have been trying for my first Burbot for an embarrassing amount of time and money. The saga continues!

We were out at Gull on Wednesday. The ice seemed fine; we drove on at Wilsons and south towards the Baptist camp about a km. No apparent problems, and no flood water to speak of.

I understand, though, that some have experienced what they believed was rotting ice. A post I read on another board was from a guy who drilled a half-hole to hold his auger, and a half-hour later, the hole was full of water. His assumption from this was that the lower part of the ice was beginning to be porous. If true, that would make me nervous about driving on.

Hope this helps!
