Upgrading electronics.. Can we get map chips for Alberta lakes??
I am going to upgrade to a humminbird 858C HD DI finder/plotter. I see lots of talk about installing map chips into these things, but i have no idea what exactly it means.
All i want is some maps with contours for the Alberta area. I dont know if this is avaiable at all, but can someone guide me in the right direction here please? I am not sure about the map end of things, but i know that this is the finder i want.
Thanks everyone.

I haven't purchased it yet but will be with in the next little while.
You can also find a list of which lakes are covered in Alberta and the rest of Canada.

There's nothing available for our lakes that compares to the beautiful maps you'll see on the website.
It is better than the standard map that comes with the sonar units though.

Bought it this year For My Elite 7 and certainly found it so much better than not having a map at all. Larger lakes have much more detail. I recently was on Okanagan Lake and found it excellent.

You also get free updates for a year, which is a positive. I certainly don't regret buying mine.
