Default Lake minniwonka

Went out yesterday got to the lake about 6:30 and one boat already on the water.

Started off slow and then it tapered off. Was down at the end of the lake when I saw the other fisherman in his 12 or 14ft. tinny with I guessed a 25HP

He left and about 15 minutes later the wind came on and came on hard.

Started back in huge Minniwonka waves that had me hanging onto the steering wheel with a death grip. Caught up to the tinny and he was coming so far out of the water with his bow that I thought it was going to tip over backwards.

I watched him for a bit and then he seemed to figure out he should slow off and keep the bow a bit more in the water.

Let's all be very careful out there, especially when the big winds come up.

Agreed Troller, those winds can howl on Minnewanka.

With water that cold, and waves like that - it can be a deadly combination.

How has fishing been this year? Doesn't look like I'll make it out this season, bummer.

Water temp was 54 and the waves were a good 5ft. scary to say the least.

Even once you get on plane the boat does take a pounding but you just have to keep it up and know it is the safest to stay on plane and on top the wave.

Fishing has been spotty. Most have been catching by jig in 30FOW. Have not got anything big, 8lbs is my biggy for the year. Still looking for that monster that I know lives down there somewhere.

Seems to be a lot hanging out at the back end of the lake. It is quite a jaunt to get there but seems to be where the fishing is right now. 30-35FOW is max depth in that spot and they seem to be feeding on the whites.

Going back later this week and hopefully the big winds will stay away.
