Fishing is usually pretty good out here. Lots of streams to the west, and numerous lakes as well. Cow is about 15 minutes southwest of Rocky, Struble, Mitchel & a trophy trout lake (can't remember name....just a couple of miles north of Mitchel) about 15 minutes south of Cow. Twin Lake is only about 5-10 minutes out of town, Phyllis is about a half hour south (west of Caroline). Beaver, Yellowhead, Burnstick & others are in the area south & west of Caroline (little over half hour from Rocky). Also numerous other lakes farther west of Rocky (Fish, Goldeye, Peppers, etc, etc. Most are good for trout. As mentioned, cow has pretty good perch.......or lots at least. Also some smaller stocked ponds (trout) in the area. Some of the trout lakes (Twin, Phyllis, etc.) have been illegally stocked with perch which are becoming more numerous as they multiply. Pike are available at Burnstick, Medicine & Jackfish Lakes. Also, the N. Sask. River runs through the west side of town. There are others (ponds & lakes) that I haven't mentioned that I'm sure others will add. Struble is pretty good, but I haven't had a great deal of luck there other than for fairly small fish. Tundra says he does much better than I do there.....That's very probable as mostly mine have been small. Like most of the lakes stocked with trout in the area, there are some large fish....from earlier stockings, and because of release of mature brood trout retired from egg production at the hatchery. If you want to chat about a specific lake, let me know & I will try to help. Others probably know more, but It's fun learning.
Good Luck!
