What do you guys think?
I'm debating on going straight to costco this morn and praying they have a ice tent left. I'll survive if they don't.
Do you guys think that the fishing hole will have anything compairable on boxing day?
Does WSS have any sales for xmas/boxing day?
I'm having a hard time deciding on if I want something with a sled built in or if I should go for a pop up. What you boys think?

Well if not sherwood park then I'll go to 50st, if not there I'll bank on 91st. Thanks fellas.
What are your guys thoughts on using the cube style tents without the pegs? I mean for quick movements, if there is little wind can a guy get away without the pegs? How much wind would cause me to require the pegs you guys think?
My best bro has a 2 man plastic fold out sled style and I like the ability to change spots quick without disassembling. My dad's home built wooden coffin style is nice for that too but way too lunker for hiking on.

Thats a logical reason. I do the same thing when I go from day shift to night shift.

No Joke. Fisher... if you want a cheap ice tent..
look at buying a HUNTING BLIND at a blowout somewhere online... even check ebay.
I use my Double Bull blind as my ice tent, and it works fantastic. Easy hug style design.. and I can use it at both times.
My brother bought a small pop up blind at C Tire.. its flimsy but does the job too. One guy only, and he takes in a little Coleman single burner stove attatchment for the little propane bottles as his heater. Works excellent.
Look into a hunting blind, they will be cheaper than most tents (seeing as it is ice season the price stays quite solid)

ice fishing tents
I have a pop-up which I can anchor to my quad or my truck whichever I am using. Also I take a rechargeable drill and 3/8 bit to predrill holes for anchor screws. Never had it out in a real blow but no problem yet and I fish southern alta.

Anchor it down on one spot at least
Like Piker, I have a pop-up tent and I use a cordless drill (3/8ths bit) to get pilot holes for the anchor screws. My 9 year old son's job is to put in the anchors, tension the straps and put some gear inside. We're quite the team and by the time I'm ready to drop my line, he's pulling one up. What started as a calm morning became a very gusty couple of hours last season, close to 60km/hr. One side popped in and the tent rattled quite a bit, but no damage done. I'm glad I've always done 5 anchors - one on the base, the other 4 for the tension straps. I'm still waiting for the day to look out my window and see an unanchored tent rolling down the lake or a guy skiing/body surfing behind it. Gotta love Alberta weather!

Hey FisherPotch, build one! I constructed mine for just over 500 bucks, see the photo's under The new ice shanty!, and see if that would work better for you... Helps to have a truck though!
